Focusing on cycling fitness requires motivation. There’s few things that inspire our population collectively like New Years. They are fresh canvasses to paint a new way of life. Why not use this buzz of energy to help you achieve your cycling fitness goals?
The New Year can be anything you want it to be. I look at it as an extra helping of motivation. It’s like riding a wave of positivity. We mind as well use it and ride it as far as the wave will take us! The thing that makes one person succeed and another one fail is motivation.
Knowing how important motivation is, is curtail to discover your reason for setting your cycling fitness goal. What is your why? Why do you want what you want? How much does it mean to you? Are you doing it for someone else or are you doing it for yourself? Can you visualize what it will look like when you accomplish it? How will you feel and how will it impact the rest of your life? How will your friends and feel about you when you’ve accomplished your goal? How confident will you be at social events and work when you reach your goal? What will you wear?
I like to spend time building this visual out in my mind and letting my goal penetrate the cells of my body. There’s no way I can fail! I will do whatever it takes to circumvent obstacles and overcome challenges.
These are all things to lock down before you make a New Year’s’ resolution. If you have the motivation, then it’s not JUST a New Year’s resolution, it’s a burning desire that you will stick with far beyond the first quarter of 2014. This leads to my definition between a declaration and a resolution, to me, is a resolution is a line in the sand and a declaration is carved in stone. The level of motivation is much different.
For several years my goal was weight loss. Every year I’d kick off a strict diet in January and fizzle out by March. I did this year after year… Some say that’s pathetic, I say I never gave up! In fact it wasn’t until early this year that I found a simple, structured system that worked for me and finished off my 60 pound weight loss! I’ve kept that weight off all year and am absolutely committed to staying healthy.
If that resonates with you then take heart, all is not lost! Keep bobbing and weaving until you get your shot. Use the energy and positivity of the season to your benefit but start first with finding the proper motivation.
